Cosmo Dragon Shot bowl — 10 g milk-sealed red clay for dense, flavour-forward solos

What it is, why it helps, how it works
This is a compact, hand-made hookah bowl from Cosmo. It uses dense red clay from the Ural Mountains that’s sealed with milk, so flavours stay clean and the bowl lasts. Six small holes in the base spread heat and keep airflow smooth. Because it only needs about 10 g of flavour (8–12 g), it’s perfect for short solo sessions with big clouds and less waste. Use foil with two 26 mm cubes, or sit an HMD on the flat rim—easy control, tidy results.

Hand-thrown from Ural-Mountain red clay and vitrified at ~1 100 °C, the Dragon Shot builds stable heat from a lean 8–12 g pack. Thick walls blunt heat spikes; six precision holes keep draw resistance low and flavour clean. The flat crown gives HMDs a steady seat, while the etched dragon scales add sure grip even when hot. Explore the full Cosmo range here: Cosmo handmade bowls. Pair it with foil or an HMD from our Foil & HMD collection; new to HMDs? Our quick guide explains the differences: Foil vs HMD.

What sets it apart

  • Smoother heat curve because the thick red-clay body is fired to ~1 100 °C, improving thermal stability during coal changes.
  • Clean, open airflow from a six-hole base that resists syrup blockage and keeps flavour bright through the purge.
  • Low-waste loading with an 8–12 g sweet spot (≈10 g typical), ideal for 30–45-minute solo sessions or flavour tests.
  • HMD-ready crown — a flat, true rim that seats popular caps securely for steadier heat control.
  • Grippy, heat-safe handling from the etched dragon-scale texture that’s comfortable to twist and lift.

Fit & compatibility

  • Coal: 2 × 26 mm cubes to start; add a third under a wind cover only if needed.
  • HMDs: Provost-style caps and Cocoyaya sit comfortably; Kaloud Lotus I+/II will fit but may slightly tighten the draw due to bowl diameter.
  • Foil: Works perfectly with double foil (heavy-duty recommended).

How to dial it in

  • Pack: Blonde tobacco — semi-fluff; Dark leaf — semi-dense. Leave ~2 mm below the rim.
  • Heat-up: Start with 2 × 26 mm on the edge; wait 4–6 min before first draw.
  • Adjust: If it tastes hot, lift HMD lid or move coals to the edge for 10–15 s. If thin, nudge coals in or add a third briefly with a wind cover.

Craft & performance

Small-batch bowls, wheel-thrown and milk-sealed for a pore-tight surface that resists ghosting. The bowl’s mass delivers a steady heat bed; the airway stays freer for longer, so flavour clarity holds from first draw to final purge. Dragon-etched sides improve grip and handling between rotations.

Care & upkeep

  • Let the bowl cool naturally before rinsing; avoid thermal shock.
  • Hand-wash with warm water only; no detergents. Air-dry fully.
  • Tap ash onto a soft mat — never a hard surface.

Quick fixes

Issue Solution
Harsh taste Ease heat: crack HMD lid 10–15 s or push coals to the rim.
Thin clouds Confirm coals are fully lit; after ~5 min, bring coals slightly inward or briefly add a third under a cover.
Fast browning Reduce pack density; increase foil tension; rotate coals every 6–8 min.
Tough purge Clear hose and check grommet seal; lighten draw by lifting lid momentarily.

FAQ

How much flavour does it hold? About 10 g, ideal for 30–45-minute solo sessions.
